Water polo: Bulldogs drop double header to the Flames

The Tracy High water polo team suffered a pair of defeats at the hands of Lodi in Tri-City Athletic League (TCAL) play on Tuesday. The two sides battled through rain showers in both the boys' and girls' action, with the visitors taking a couple of valuable victories back up north. The Bulldogs’ boys fell to 12-6 (2-2 TCAL) on the year in a 20-7 loss. The Flames dominated from the early stages and built a sizable 11-1 lead at half-time. It was a tough hill to climb for the hosts after the interval, but the ‘Dogs improved and were outscored by just three goals the rest of the way (9-6). Senior Maverick Fernandez paced Tracy with an efficient three goals on five shots. He also had two steals. Senior Jaden Abris added two goals. Sophomore Julian Abris had one goal, one assist, and two steals. Junior Agustin Masanes-Marun scored one goal. In between the sticks, senior Myles Stacey made seven saves and allowed 10 goals. Sophomore Gavin Avila also let in 10 goals while making three saves. The Lady ‘Dogs lost 11-6 to their counterparts in what was a much closer back-and-forth. Tracy fell to 12-3 (1-3 TCAL). The hosts kept things close in the first half. The scoreboard read 2-2 after one quarter, and Lodi led narrowly, 6-4, at the interval. The Flames bested the Bulldogs 5-2 in the second half to pull away for the win. Freshman Delaney Herren set the tone for Tracy with four goals. Sophomore Brynne Ek added one goal. Sophomore Alexandra MacPhail also scored once. Senior Alana Placido was in goal for all the Lodi goals. The ‘Dogs have two games left in the regular season. They will be at Lincoln on Thursday before wrapping it up at West next Tuesday. The Wolf Pack boys are 1-9 (0-4 TCAL) and the girls are 0-9 (0-4 TCAL). Boys: Mountain House 14, East Union 9 The Mustangs snapped a two-game losing streak with a dominant win over East Union in the Valley Oak League (VOL) on Wednesday. Mountain House improved to 6-5 (3-4 VOL) behind a stellar performance from junior Jayden Ward, who led the team with seven goals on 10 shots, to go along with two assists and one steal. Senior Tanish Dutta added three goals and one steal. Senior William Schenck chipped in with one goal, two assists, and four steals. Senior Aly Tantawy scored once and had two assists and five steals.
